Born in Sao Miguel, Azores, a son of the late Augusto and Virginia (Lima) Carmo he immigrated to America in 1978 and has been a resident of Somerset for over 25 years.
He worked as a Mason and was a member of the Portuguese Army having served in Africa. A fun loving family oriented man he enjoyed gardening, dancing and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his four children, Lucia Lima and her husband Jorge, Carlos Carmo and his wife Gabriela, Jose Carmo, Rosa Antunes and her husband Agostinho; eleven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Francisca Carreiro, Virginia Almeida, and Jose, Agostinho and Cisfredo Carmo.
His Funeral will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at 9:00AM from the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Road, Swansea, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM in St. John of God Church, 1036 Brayton Ave., Somerset. Visiting hours Monday from 5:00 – 8:00PM. Contributions in his honor may be made to Dana Farber, Jimmy Fund, 44 Binney St., Boston, MA 02115. Burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
