Donald J. Moniz, age 86, “Bazooka,” of Swansea, passed away Saturday, December 19, 2020 in Charlton Memorial Hospital with his family by his side. He was the husband of Theresa (Medeiros) Moniz to whom he has been married for the past sixty years.
Born in Fall River, a son of the late Joseph and Carmen (Saucier) Moniz, he had been a lifelong area resident. He attended B.M.C. Durfee High School and worked as a salesman in the suit department at J.C. Penny for many years before his retirement. Prior to that, he worked at Anderson Little and for his family business in the trucking industry Edward’s Motor Lines.
An avid golfer, he enjoyed taking trips to casinos and visiting Las Vegas. He enjoyed doing yardwork but his favorite times spent were with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Steven Moniz and his wife Tina of Somerset, David Moniz and his wife Jessica of Swansea; one sister, Beatrice Bolduc and her husband William of Milford, CT; four grandchildren, Brian, Daniel, Jack and Aubrey Moniz, one great-grandson, Vincenzo Moniz and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Leo Moniz.
Due to current restrictions on public gatherings, his funeral services will be private. Contributions in his honor may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 161 N. Clark St., Suite 3550, Chicago, IL 60601.
