Edward Rego, age 86, “Eddie,” of Somerset, passed away Thursday, August 30, 2018 in Rhode Island Hospital. He was the husband of Leona (Pelletier) Rego to whom he has been married for the past 66 years.
Born in Fall River, a son of the late Manuel and Mary (Reis) Rego, he had been a resident of Somerset for the past 63 years.
He was a proud member of the National Guard. He began his 45 year career as a boiler technician at Firestone, then Berkshires, Swan Finishing, then Montaup Power Plant and retired from New England Power Plant 1997. Mr. Rego was a licensed Fireman Engineer.
A communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church, he enjoyed fishing and gardening.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Carol Vigil and her husband Bobby and Gail Eckles and her husband Stan, all of Somerset; one sister, Rosie Davis; two brothers, Amos and Raymond Rego; five grandchildren, Eduardo, Andrew, Gregorio, Gabriel Vigil and Christy Eckles; two great-grandchildren, Kayleigh and Cameron and several nieces and nephews. He was pre deceased by his eleven siblings.
His Funeral will be held on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at 8:00AM from the Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Rd. Swansea, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:00AM in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 530 Gardners Neck Rd. Swansea. Visiting hours Monday from 3:00 to 6:00PM. Burial in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River.
