

Born in Chicago, Illinois, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Magdalena (Boricha) Gurzac; she had been a resident of Swansea since 1946. Swansea was a town she was proud to call home and was very active in Town Meetings. She was considered a “Voice in the Town.” Active in Town Politics, she worked the polls and was recipient of the “Official Citation” from the Town.
Mrs. Lamarre worked as a Seamstress for many years at the former Darwood Manufacturing Company. She was an active communicant of the former St. Michael’s Parish where she was a housekeeper at the rectory and enjoyed playing bingo. She was a recipient of the Marion Medal and was a member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary Post 303, the Royal Travelers, and the Friends of Bluffs.
She is survived by nephews, Edward Elicky of Oakland, MD, and Robert Kroll of Chicago, IL and great nephews Robert and Bret Kroll, dear friend Carole Hyland and her husband Don “Butch” of Swansea and good neighbor and friends Andy and Pauline Golden also of Swansea. She was Aunt of the late Patricia Ann Kroll and sister of the late Frank Gurzac and Mary Drodz.
Her Funeral will be held Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at 8:30AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at BIRCHRCEST 189 Gardner’s Neck Road Swansea, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM in St. Francis of Assisi Church 530 Gardner’s Neck Road Swansea. Visiting hours prior to her Mass from 8:30 to 9:30AM in the Funeral Home. Contributions in her honor may be made to the Swansea Ambulance Corps 285 Wilbur Ave. Swansea, MA 02777. Burial in Mount Hope Cemetery.
