Born in Boston to James and Gertrude Soutar, she enjoyed her youth in Barrington, RI and was a graduate of Barrington High School. As an adult she lived in California and Florida before returning home to Swansea, where she remained a longtime resident.
Jane was an avid traveler who enjoyed day trips around New England. Her adventures carried her across the country to the National Parks, including Yosemite and Sequoia. This love of travel even took her as far as Africa on safari, her heart’s desire.
She loved nature and had an exceptional green thumb. Her connection and love for animals was unmatched and led her on many rescue missions.
Jane leaves behind two daughters, Jodi Teller of Swansea, MA, Kimberly Teller of Swansea, MA, and one granddaughter, Hannah Jane Teller of Swansea, MA. She is also survived by her two brothers, James H. Soutar and his wife Marcia of Barre, VT, Jon C. Soutar of Waterford, MI, and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service will be Thursday, April 7, 2022. Visitation will begin at 1:30 pm followed by a memorial service at 3:00 pm. The funeral will be held at the Waring-Sullivan Funeral Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Road in Swansea, MA. Relatives and friends are invited. At the family’s request, masks will be required and please be mindful of social distancing. The burial will be private.
