John L. Cabral Jr. of Swansea, age 87, passed away Saturday, May 10, 2025, at his residence, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Mary (McMahon) Cabral, to whom he was married for the past 66 years.
Born in Swansea, A son of the late John Cabral Sr. and Mary (Fernandes) Cabral, he was a lifelong resident of Swansea.
A shipping and dispatch worker, he worked at the United Merchant for 40 years before retiring. He cherished spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his wife, John is survived by four children; Donna Lyne of Swansea, Deborah Daroza and her husband Michael of Fairhaven, Susan Coffey of Swansea and John “Jay” Cabral III and his wife Jheri of Florida; five grandchildren, Jason Lyne, Kyle Coffey, Samantha Coffey, Sarah Coffey and Shealan Cabral; two great-grandchildren, Alexis Lyne and Alyssa Lyne and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by one brother and one sister.
His Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at 11:00 AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation prior from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Burial will be private. Kindly omit flowers.
