Mary was the beloved widow of Leslie C. Hiatt and Robert Palmer. Born in Fall River, she was the cherished daughter of the late Daniel J. Freeman and Katherine C. (Gregory) Freeman.
Mary dedicated 30 years of her life to working as a telephone operator, retiring in 1994. She was a proud former member of the Catholic Foresters, the East End Sportsman’s Club, where she was the president of the women’s auxiliary, and she was the treasurer of the DKV German Club. She enjoyed trips to the casino, bowling, sharing laughs with friends, traveling, and, most of all, spending time with her family. Her greatest joy in life was the love she gave and received from those closest to her. Her daughters were her greatest accomplishments as she would tell everyone how proud she was of them. She took pride in being a lifelong resident of Fall River.
She leaves behind her loving daughters, Kristen E. Spencer of Vancouver, WA, and Leslie K. Charbonneau and her husband Todd Charbonneau of Dighton and will be deeply missed by her cherished grandchildren: Cameron Carbonneau, Leah Charbonneau, Emily Spencer, Michael Spencer, and Brooklyn Spencer. She was the mother of the late Joseph Hiatt and grandmother of the late Austin Motta and Hunter Spencer.
Her visitation will be held Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Road, Swansea. A memorial service will take place at 4:00 PM. Burial will be private.
