Paul A. “Chags” Chagnon, age 74, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2024 in Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the loving husband of Judith “Judy” (Donnelly) Chagnon with whom he shared 51 years of marriage.
Born in Fall River, the son of the late Raymond and Lorraine (St. Jean) Chagnon, he was a longtime resident of Swansea.
Mr. Chagnon began his career at Resco Printers & Lithographers, formerly R.E. Smith Printing, Co. while in high school. A dedicated printer, he worked for 40 years before his retirement. A firefighter for the Swansea Fire Department, Station 3, he volunteered for over 23 years.
A skilled fisherman, he was able to provide food for his family as a young man and continued to enjoy fishing and boating throughout his life. Actively involved in his community, he was a member of the Case High School Drama Boosters, he coached the Swansea Independent Baseball League and was a supportive participant in the Challenger Division of the Swansea Little League. He enjoyed a good joke, making people laugh, his Dunkin’ Donuts coffee, a Coney Island hot dog but most of all his family and the time he spent with them.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Joseph Chagnon of CA and Mark Chagnon of Swansea and one brother, Scott Chagnon and his wife Catherine of Rehoboth. He was the brother of the late Nancy Beauregard.
His Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at 11:00 AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Road, Swansea. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation is from 10:00 - 11:00 AM, prior to the service. Burial will be private.
