Robert A. Boscoe, age 85, of Taunton and previously of Swansea and Fall River passed away on Friday, October 8, 2021 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Sandra (Thadeio) Boscoe to whom he had been married 47 years.
Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late John J. Boscoe, Sr. and Irene R. (Sullivan) Boscoe.
A graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, Class of 1956, Robert proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He then received his Associate’s degree from Bristol Community College and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Roger Williams University in 1968. Robert went on to become the Assistant Registrar at Bristol Community College for over 31 years before his retirement in 1999.
Robert was a member of various organizations, including the Bristol Community College Alumni Association, the VFW, American Legion, Swansea, Colonial Navy of Massachusetts, Touisset Country Club and served on the Zoning Board in Swansea. He was a lifetime member of the Elks and a retired member of the New England Association of College Registrar’s and Admissions Officers and was an avid golfer.
Besides his devoted wife, he is survived by four children, Brian P. Boscoe and his wife Rebecca of N. Stonington, CT, Steven S. Boscoe and his wife Denise of Hilton Head, SC, Jerusha Shatzkamer and her husband Kevin of Hingham and Cathy Boscoe of Hilton Head, SC; twelve grandchildren, Justin, Padraic, Bruce, Randy, Heather, Gina, Sasha, Emma, Keiran, Benjamin, Nathaniel and Aidan; two great-grandchildren, Braeden and Bruce; his sister-in-law, Joan Boscoe of Glen Burnie, MD as well as many nieces and nephews. Robert was the father of the late Kerri Boscoe and brother of the late Irene St. Amand, Ronald Boscoe and John J. Boscoe, Jr.
His Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at 10:00 AM in St. Louis de France Church, 56 Buffington St, Swansea. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial with Military Honors will take place in the Massachusetts National Cemetery at Bourne at 12:45 PM. His Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM in Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Rd, Swansea. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Robert’s honor may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St, Framingham, MA 01701 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
