Valerie Christina Verissimo

Valerie C. (Sousa) Verissimo, age 49 of Fall River, passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2016 in St. Annes Hospital. She was the wife of John Verissimo, to who she had been happily married to for 28 years.

Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, a daughter of Luis B. Sousa of N. Dighton and the late Maria F. (Paixao) Sousa, she was a lifelong area resident.

Mrs. Verissimo was a graduate of BMC Durfee High School, class of 1984. She worked in the Medical Billing Department for Travelers Insurance for 15 years. She loved to go to the gym, long runs, and the beach. Valerie enjoyed being with her friends and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her granddaughter Gabriella Valerie.

In addition to her husband of 28 years and her father, she is survived by a daughter Taisha M. Verissimo and a son Cameron J. Verissimo both of Fall River; a granddaughter Gabriella Valerie Baylies of Fall River; a brother Luis C. Sousa and his wife Stacy of Somerset; a sister Miriam F. (Sousa) and her husband David DeSousa of N. Dighton, three nieces and four nephews.

Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at 9AM from the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Road, Swansea, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10AM in St. Louis de France Church, 56 Buffington St., Swansea. Visiting hours, Monday from 5:00 to 8:00PM. Burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
