

Yvette (Gauthier) Furtado, age 85, of Swansea, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 28, 2010 at the Highlander Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Fall River. She was the loving wife of William Furtado to whom she had been married for over 60 years.
Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Ovila and Alberta (Longchamps) Gauthier, and a lifelong resident of Swansea. Yvette was a homemaker and a loving mother. She was affectionately known as “Aunt Jet” to her many nephews, nieces and Godchildren. She loved animals and wild birds. Bill and Yvette enjoyed their summer home on New Pond in Canterbury, N.H. and sharing good times with family and friends.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Robert K. Furtado, Deputy Chief of Police in Swansea, and his wife, Sharon, and Kevin G. Furtado and his wife, Christine, all of Swansea, two brothers, Albert Gauthier and his wife, Elsie, of Virginia Beach, VA, Raymond Gauthier and his wife, Carol, of Williamsburg, VA, and one sister, Jeannine Willis of California, MD. Her five loving grandchildren include Matthew R. Furtado and his wife Erin, Jonathan K. Furtado, C.J. Furtado, his fiancée Stephanie and son, Dean, Andrea Furtado, Nicole (Furtado) Tetrault and her husband, Greg. Her adorable great-grandchildren are Ethan and Colby Tetrault.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2010 from 12Noon throughout the afternoon at the home of Kevin and Chris Furtado at 227 Purchase Street, Swansea. Family, friends and their children are welcome.
