It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing on August 22, 2026 of Diane Edith Donovan our beloved sister, aunt and friend with her loving family by her side. Born in Sydney Mines on February 20, 1949 to the late Willis and Lillian Forrest.
Diane worked for many years at the Northside Community Guest Home in North Sydney. When she wasn't working she enjoyed Bowling or going to the dances at the Pensioner's Club with friends. However, her favorite thing to do was spend time with her sisters, special nieces and other family at gatherings, and going for a drive for an ice cream.
Diane will be sadly missed by her siblings Elizabeth LeBlanc, Sarah MacKinnon (Alex), Willis Forrest (Diane), Joseph Forrest (Paulette), Benny Forrest (Jean), and George Forrest (Anne Lynn), brother-in-law William Campbell as well as many special nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her sisters Beatrice MacMullin and Agnes Campbell, brother John Forrest and brothers-in-law Ronald LeBlanc, and Wayne MacMullin.
A visitation will take place at Fillmore & Whitman Funeral Home, 8 Clyde Ave., Sydney Mines from 2 until 4 & from 7 until 9 on Thursday, August 27. Funeral Service will take place at 11:00am on Friday, August 28 also at Fillmore & Whitman Funeral Home with Rev. Corrie Stewart officiating. Interment to follow in Brookside Cemetery. The family would like to thank the EHS, Cape Breton Regional Hospital Staff, Dr. Osagie and all of the Staff at the Northside Community Guest Home for all of the care and attention provided to both Diane as well as her family. Also a thank you to Shirley Donovan, a special friend who was like a sister, sister-in-law Jean Forrest, niece Skye Donna Forrest and special niece April Lynn Mackinnon, who was like a granddaughter, thank you all for the special place you held in Diane's heart and life.
