Eileen Young

It is with broken hearts that we the family announce the passing of beloved mother and grandmother Eileen Young. Eileen passed away on December 23, 2017 at Northside General Hospital with her family at her side.

The daughter of Ernest and Eleanor Briggs of Sydney Mines, Eileen is survived by William, her husband of 63 years, daughters Debbie Dowling, Leah Ann (John) LeBlanc; grandchildren: Nichole (Brian) Halliday, Jennifer (Brechan) MacAuley, Jenna and Evan LeBlanc; great grandchildren Avory, Jocelyn, Cassidy, Emmett and Lexi, daughter-in-law Dorothy Dolhanty, sister Queenie Luker as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Eileen is predeceased by her parents, son Billy, son-in-law David Dowling and brothers Ernest and Wally Briggs.

Eileen graduated from nursing school in 1953 and spent many years nursing at the old Harbourview Hospital in Sydney Mines. She was a longtime active member of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary and an avid dart and bingo player.

At this time we would like to thank Doctor Wawer and the nurses of 4 east and 5 west for their care and compassion for mom.

Funeral Service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, December 29th at Trinity Anglican Church, Sydney Mines with Rev. Stacey LeMoine officiating.
