Better known as Frankie, he was born on November 2nd, 1958, the son of the late Joseph and Mary Margaret (Burton) Doucette, of Ingonish, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. He was very proud of his mi'kmaq heritage.
As many family members can attest, the most special day of Frankie’s journey, was the day he married the love of his life, Barbara Dobko in 1999, after a lengthy courtship of seven years. There was nothing more important to Frankie than the wellbeing and happiness of his wife, his soul mate.
Frankie was most jovial when surrounded by family and his many friends. A friend to all, he loved to make people happy, and a smile was his reward. He was never one to stay idle and he thrived when working on challenging projects. A Jack-of-all-trades type of guy, there was no task he would not tackle, especially carpentry. If he did not know how to accomplish a certain aspect of the job, he would find resources and answers to help get it done. For Frankie, it had to be just right and he was very proud of his projects. He was known as a hard worker and always ready to lend a helping hand.
Frankie loved the outdoors, hiking, fishing, golfing and was a good Nature photographer. He was very proud of Barbara’s incredible talent as an artist and supported her passion. They loved traveling together to countless art shows where they displayed art pieces and enjoyed the social aspect of these gatherings.
This hard worker returned to school as a mature student and graduated with a Heavy Equipment Operator certificate. He was quite proud of working as a seasonal labourer with Cape Breton Highlands National Park since 2014. He was honoured to be a member of the Ingonish Volunteer Fire Department. He will forever be remembered for the guy who was always on the go who could never say no!
This great man will be dearly missed by his beloved wife Barbara, stepsons: William Fielder (Kelly) in Alberta and David Fielder (Ontario). Frankie leaves behind his brothers Fredrick (Lolit) Doucette and Edward (Charlene) Doucette and sisters, Debbie MacKinnon and Mary (Lloyd) Snow. As well, members of his extended family in Ontario: sister-in-law Gloria Mogavero, sister-in-law Theresa Dobko, brother-in-law John Dobko and sister-in-law Joanne (John) Fahy.
Frankie loved children and they easily became attached to him. He will be especially missed by his step-grandchildren of whom he was so proud to be called their grandpa: Madison and Marleigh Fielder.
