Geordie was the second eldest son of George Whyte and was born in Little Pond, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. Geordie leaves behind his father whose love knew no bounds, and a loving, resilient, strong and adventurous family: four sisters- Sarah, Patricia, Maggie and Rachel; two brothers- Lenny and Stanley; and many, many nieces and nephews.
Geordie's family went beyond his blood and included his best friends Aaron and Jay and his life partner Alicia. Predeceased and waiting for him in heaven are his beloved fur nephew Karl, close friend Ally, and his paternal grandparents.
Geordie was a dedicated worker and contributed many years of service as a driller at Sandy Ross Well Servicing. He will be remembered for his kindness, his gentle heart, and the deep, genuine way he loved his community. In particular, his bond with his Irish twin Patricia was unbreakable and their love and connection will live on, even in his absence.
Geordie made Dartmouth Nova Scotia his second home and had many friends within the city limits. Despite his love for this community, he never forgot his rural roots and could be found skiing, fishing, and spending time in the woods whenever possible. Geordie loved family and animals and his favorite food was blueberry pie. In his memory take a moment to appreciate the woods, rivers, lakes and sea, and next time you eat blueberry pie, remember Geordie's smiling face.
In lieu of flowers please donate to the Elizabeth Fry Societies of Mainland Nova Scotia or Northwestern Ontario as these organizations held a close place in Geordie's heart.
