Maria was predeceased by her beloved Mike and Peggy MacDougall, parent-in-law Rollie and Elizabeth Hussey, grandparent-in-law Suzanna and Jack Fricker, and grandparents John Michael and Maryann Donovan.
Mom loved vacationing with her family and friends and truly enjoyed her summer camping adventures to PEI, Iona for Highland Village Days, Inverness, and in her later years Lake Ainslie at MacKinnon’s Campground. Maria loved socializing, always up for a good party, music festival, dart league, or celebrating family events. She loved to dance and very seldom sat still once the music started, whether a square set, step dance, or for plain old fun. Maria had many jobs over her lifetime, pre-primary teacher, front desk staff, clerk, waitress, cook, and enjoyed each and every job because of the friends she made and people she met. She spent the rest of her life working side-by-side with her beloved husband Kelvin, on their boat JoshanKove, as a fisherwoman.
Maria was a woman of devoted faith and a member of St. Peter’s Parish Church, Ingonish Beach where she participated on the Financial Committee and Parish Council, as well as, an avid volunteer.
The family would like to express our gratitude and thanks to all the amazing Doctors, Nurses, and staff at Buchanan Memorial Hospital, their Kindness during Maria’s illness was outstanding. Their dedication and Caring that she received will always be a blessing to the family. She loved each and every one of you.
