It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Mary (Mim) Genevieve Stubbert, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, An Cala Palliative Care unit on November 3, 2019 at the age of 90 years. Born in North Sydney on December 3rd, 1928, she was the daughter of the late George and Jane Bungay. Mom was a kind and compassionate lady whose greatest joy was spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children, Hope (Con) Gaskell, Joan (Ken) Matheson, Iris (Victor) Murphy, George (Khristine) Stubbert. Her grandchildren Amanda, Patricia, Troy, Al, Lisa, Erika, Lauchie, Ceilidh and Erin. Great grandchildren, Charlotte, Lydia, Ethan, Ayla and Grayson. She is also survived by her brother Reg (Maggie) Bungay and her sister, Joyce Mulley.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Lauchie in 1988, sisters Sue, Vera, Sade and Cavell, brothers Creighton, George, Bill, Clyde, Murray and Leo.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff of 4B and An Cala, Palliative Care, C.B. Regional Hospital. Your care and compassion meant so much. Also to Dr. Peter Poulos, Mom’s family doctor for his exemplary care of Mom over the years; the Cape Breton County Homemakers especially Brenda and Darlene. Mom really enjoyed her cups of tea and chats with you. To granddaughter, Erika Stubbert, Mom’s angel. We will never forget all the comfort, care and devotion you showed your grammie during her time in hospital.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fillmore & Whitman Funeral Home. In accordance with Mom’s wishes there will be no visitation. A private graveside service at Trinity Anglican Cemetery will be held with Rev. Stacey LeMoine, officiating.
