It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Norma Elizabeth Taylor, at the Northside General Hospital on Thursday, May 19, 2022. Norma was the daughter of the late Mary Belle and Arthur Howard of Florence. She was known to her family as Aunt Babe and lived most of her younger years in Ontario with her husband Carl. There they had a happy life with a beautiful cottage on Lake Bernard, where we had many family gatherings. With the passing of her husband, Norma moved home to Cape Breton to live with her sister and best friend June. Here they lived with her niece Roberta, who watched over them for many years. Lots of good laughs were had there.
Norma loved her walks with her sister June and cousin Kaye, to look out over the ocean. She loved going on trips with her niece Catherine and a good card game of sevens with the family. She enjoyed a drink of rum and making sloppy hamburgers for her nephew Art. Norma resided at the Miner’s Memorial Manor for the past many years, where she was cared for with lots of tender loving care. Thanks to her niece Catherine for looking after her for those years with the help of her nephew Art. Aunt Babe is survived by her loving nieces and nephews and a large extended family who will miss her. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Carl, sisters June Laffin and Shirley Brown and brother Ernest Howard.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Fillmore & Whitman Funeral Home. A family graveside service in Brookside Cemetery will be held at a later date. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family by visiting www.fillmoreandwhitman.com. Norma’s family will be forever grateful to all the staff at Miner’s Memorial Manor for the excellent care she received there and also thank you, to the staff on Second Floor of the Northside General Hospital.
