MacNEIL, Thomas Charles “Tommy” – 62, Millville. It is with much sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Thomas “Tommy” Charles MacNeil on June 22, 2010. Tommy was born on October 18, 1947, in North Sydney. He was a lifelong resident of Millville. Tommy worked for the Department of Transportation and Public Works for35 years, prior to retirement in 1997. Tommy enjoyed his retirement particularly spending time with his grandchildren. They were truly his greatest joy in life. Tommy is survived by his wife, Maureen (Haley) MacNeil; his daughter, Patricia (Glen) Marchand; grandchildren, Boyd and Mikaela Marchand, Eastern Passage; parents, John and Sadie MacNeil; brothers, Johnny (Mary) MacNeil; Lewis (Wanda) MacNeil, all residents of Millville; four nieces and two nephews. He was predeceased by a nephew. In respecting his wishes, cremation has taken place under the direction of Fillmore and Whitman Funeral Home. Committal will be held in Holy Cross Cemetery on June 26 at 11 a.m. Reception to follow in Millville Community Center from 12 – 2 p.m. Donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or a charity of one’s choice.
