Born July 6, 1951 in Ingonish, Dale’s love of the woods led him to a 25 year career on trails at the CBHNP. Dad’s joys in life were his grandkids, the family pets, fiddle music and fast cars. Along with his unique sense of humour, his happiest of times were sharing tales and having a cold beer with his family and friends, especially his late father-in-law, Chester.
He has left behind a loving wife of 47 years, Donna; daughters, Jenny (Stanley) Symes, Tracy (Kinnon) Samways, Rachel (Johnny) Samways; grandchildren, Bailey (Alyssa), William (Ally), Jenacy, Olivia, Lily Dawn, Dawson, Sean, and his sweet great-grandbaby, Layla. Also left to mourn are his sister, Heather Farrell; uncle, Douglas Warren; favourite cousin, Bobby Samways, as well as many nephews, niece and cousins.
Besides his parents, Oliver and Nina (Warren) Samways, he was predeceased by his in-laws, Chester and Marilyn (Gray) MacLellan, and special brother-in-law, David Farrell.
In keeping with Dads wishes, cremation has taken place under the direction of Fillmore and Whitman and a private family reception will be held at a later date. Memories and condolences may be forwarded to the family by visiting www.fillmoreandwhitman.com.
Many thanks to the many doctors and nurses who showed lots of kindness and patience to Dad these past few months at Buchanan Memorial Hospital and Highland Manor.
If desired, donations in Dale’s memory may be made to the ALS Society.
