Adriana D'Addario

Born in San Salvo, Italy, she was the daughter of Giovina (Celenza) and Espedito Malatesta. She was the oldest of three daughters. Adriana immigrated from Italy in 1957 and married her husband, Leandro in the same year at the St. Nicholas Italian Church in Whitney Pier. In the early 1960's, she owned a seamstress shop on Charlotte St. in Sydney. In the late 60's she and Leandro opened a pizza shop on George Street called The Roma. They later relocated the "Roma Pizzeria" to Grand Lake Rd. where they worked side by side for many years. Adriana was a hard worker and excelled at everything she did; be it sewing, cooking or running a business. In the 80's, 90's and early 2000's Adriana was active in the local Italian Community, participating and working at many events including Italian Days, and many spaghetti dinners.

She and Leandro also enjoyed travelling and went on many trips to Europe, Mexico and the US. Adriana loved spending time with her family and Sundays were the time the entire family would gather for a homemade meal. Her great grandchildren were a great joy to her and she often made them homemade treats. She was an excellent cook and was known for her homemade Italian dishes and baking. She truly was the heart of the family.

She is survived by her three children: Pina Ross (Charles), Westmount, Frank, Coxheath, Giovanna Ferrazano (Ted), US. Two grandchildren, Leah, (Mark), Winnipeg, and Carla, Sydney River and four great grandchildren: Isabella, Jacob, Kaius, and Benjamin. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Lucia D'Addario, Westmount, and her youngest sister Mirella Cilli in Italy, along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her husband of 64 years, Leandro in 2022, and sister, Italia Fiore in 2011.

We would like to thank the staff on 4C of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for all the care she received. We would also like to thank her family doctor, Dr. Walaa Moamer for her exceptional care over the years.

Visitation will be held at TW Curry Parkview Chapel on Tuesday, September 23rd from 4-7pm. A funeral service will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Church on Wednesday, September 24th at 11:00am with a reception to follow in the church hall. Father Conrad Edwards and Father Evo DiPierro officiating. Interment for family only will be at Resurrection Cemetery, in Sydney Forks.
