The family of Alfred Carmen Giorno with broken hearts announce his passing on Sept 25, 2022 surrounded by his wife Cathy, son Carmen and family. Alfred was born in Sydney on July 16, 1947, he was the son of the late Frank & Mary (Almon) Giorno.
Left to mourn his passing is his wife Catherine (nee Young) his only son & pride and joy Carmen (Kim), sister Theresa Hawco, brother-in-law Kevin (Anne) Young and special niece Amy (Michael), who always checked in on him. Alfred also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Alfred is also predeceased by his sister Cecilia O'Handley (Roy), brother Rico Giorno, brothers-in-law John "Jake" Hawco and Danny MacNeil.
Alfred led a full life. He served as Peace Keeper in Cyprus in 1967 and was a Reserve for 30 years. He was active with the Boy Scouts, Little League and the Legion Poppy Campaign, he was the a past president of Branch 12 Legion and the Italian Association. Alfred spent many evenings in his garage making crafts and spending time with the "3 amigos"; Trevor, Roy & Shane. He enjoyed his drives with Jamie Kyte & going for coffee with his gang: Marvin, Al & Carole.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the ER staff at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital and Palliative Care Unit for your care and compassion, as well as the Golden Girls Private Home Care and Cabot Physiotherapy.
