Bernadette Elizabeth Leblanc (nee Burke), age 91, of Sydney, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Monday, April 19, 2021. Born in Sydney. She was the daughter of the late Fabian and Florence (Coady) Burke. Bernadette was a former member of St. Anthony Daniel Parish and an active member of the CWL for more than 50 years. She was also a volunteer member of the Friends of MacGillivray Guest Home. Bernadette was a member of Club 55, the Sydney Pensioners Club for more than 30 years. She looked forward to the activities, playing darts and shuffle board with the friends she met there. She had a generous spirit and would help out anyone in need and often volunteered selling tickets for any organization needing help fundraising. Our mom was a great lady with a sense of humour and was often making us laugh. You never quite knew what she was going to say next. She had the biggest smile that would brighten your day. Bernadette was employed at St. Rita’s Hospital for 23 yrs. Florence and family. I was saddened to hear of your Mother’s passing. She was a wonderful person. I had known her when she worked at St. Rita Hospital and met her many times on the bus or “in town” on her way to darts. She was a very strong lady. My sincere condolences.

Sending heartfelt condolences on your loss. I met Bernadette years ago, when we both worked at St. Rita Hospital. I ran into her many times over the years, and she would always leave me with a smile after a little visit. Take Care!

I have so many wonderful memories of Bernadette. She was so full of fun and she was one of the toughest ladies I have ever had the privilege of knowing and loving. She overcame so many adversities, pain and sorrow in her life but she got through it and kept on going. She was my late husband Joe's Aunt and Godmother and he loved her dearly. During our many vacations we stayed with Bernadette often and I spent many hours laughing with her until the two of us had tears in our eyes. She has been my inspiration throughout the years and I will miss her deeply. My condolences to all of her family that she loved so much.. Florence and her mom shared a special bond and much praise needs to go to Florence for the loving care she provided to her mother right to the end. I have put in one of my favourite pictures of Joe and Bernadette. Rest in peace with all the Angels waiting for you.
