

Bruno is predeceased by his wife "Bhoo" Roberta Bruce in 1992, Bruno was the eldest child to Ada (1996) and Achille (1976), sister Lorie and brother John (Maria). Survived by his loving children, Sara and Neal. Sister in law Bev (Mark) Bruce, brother in law Jerry Bruce. Neice, Ellen and nephews, Justin and Logan as well as a large extended family.
Bruno's parents immigrated from Friuli, Italy. Bruno was born October 9, 1949, in Toronto. His parents worked hard and were successful in establishing their new lives in Canada. In high school, Bruno excelled in sports, basketball and football especially.
Bruno made his way to Nova Scotia, settling in Upper Leitches Creek, where he spent many years with his brother and close friends building a log cabin. Taking great pride in his organic vegetable garden and fruit and walnut orchard that he tended for 40 plus years. He raised his children in the Shipyard neighborhood of Sydney.
Meeting his wife Bhoo, an outgoing and free spirited activist, changed his life in many ways. Welcoming his children and after losing her at the age of 38 to cancer inspired his career in activism.
Bruno, passionate and outspoken, fought many environmental battles in his career. Uncompromising and selfless in looking out for other people's health as well as the environment. Best remembered for his work on the Sydney Tar Ponds.
Bruno was a very supportive father, never missing a beat as a single parent, following his children in everything they did and having a very close bond with them both into adulthood. A wealth of information and love. Bruno never missing a hockey game his son played. His children will always have fond memories of camping trips that would span Canada and U.S.A and last all summer.
A celebration of Bruno’s life will be held on Thursday, June 12th, with a time of gathering from 4:00-6:00pm and celebration at 6:00 p.m. at TW Curry Parkview Chapel, 744 George St., Sydney. To leave a message for the family or to view the service please visit twcurry.com.
