It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of our mother Catherine Loretta Nadeau on October 4, 2023. She was the daughter of the late Stephen and Mary MacKinnon. Born in Big Pond on June 25th, 1938, she then moved to Columbia Street in Sydney, where she spent her youth. Kathleen, as she was known to her family, moved to the US to pursue her career, where she met her husband Edward T. Nadeau (deceased) and had her 3 children.
Her favorite time of the year was Christmas. She spent many years traveling to NH, including the holidays to spend time with her children and granddaughter. She is survived by her children Kathleen M. Pendris (Brian), Edward G. Nadeau (Melanie), Jerome S. Nadeau (Kandee), and her granddaughter Emmy MacKinnon Nadeau.
She relocated back to her family home later in life and spent many years surrounded by her family and friends. She will be missed by her siblings; Mary (Albert), Vera (Joe), Steve (Lily), Frankie (Rose), Cecelia (Steve), Loretta (Bob), Tena, Monica (Terry), Joe (Michelene) and her lifelong friend Louise Vassallo. She was also beloved by her many nieces and nephews.
Kathleen was predeceased by her sister Petronella Hanson, her brother Neil MacKinnon, and her brothers-in-law Albert Doyle, and Joseph Kelly.
Cremation has taken place and she will be placed with her husband and parents at a graveside service on October 11, 2023 at 2PM at Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
