It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Cecilia Ann (Roy) O'Handley. Cecilia passed away early morning Wednesday February 19, 2020 at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Halifax surrounded by loved ones. Cecilia was born in Sydney, NS to the late Mary (Almon) and Frank Giorno. Cecilia devoted many years working at Malcolm Munroe Junior High in the cafeteria. Cecilia was well known for her volunteer work mostly at the MacGillivray Guest Home. Cecilia loved meeting and having lunch dates with her friends, she could often be found shopping at the Dollarama or various markets wherever she travelled. Cecilia was a fabulous cook and well known for her pasta sauce. She was a very kind hearted person and would do without to make sure everyone else had enough. In her pastime her favorite things to do were watching her soap opera's, detective/home shows, snuggling with her dogs, and most importantly spending time with her grandchildren who were her pride and joy. Cecilia was also a member of the Italian Association. Cecilia is survived by her loving husband Roy O'Handley; daughters Deanna MacNeil, Jennifer (Jeff) MacNeil, Arleen (Troy) Jensen, Michelle (Joey) Campbell, sons Daniel MacNeil, Sean O'Handley; sister Theresa Hawco, brother Alfred (Cathy) Giorno, eleven grandchildren Nick, Nathan, Jordan, Madison, Brody, Tyler, Connor, Chloe, Dawson, Bailey, Matthew; in-laws Kathleen(John A) MacNeil, Leonard O'Handley, John O'Handley, Patricia (Rick) Jackson, Rose Snyder as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents she is predeceased by her first husband Daniel J MacNeil, brother Enrico, mother in laws Mary MacNeil, Sara O'Handley, father in law Alex MacNeil, in laws Jake Hawco, Gerard O'Handley, Ann-Marie (Joe) Donovan; as well as many other family members whom she loved dearly. Visitations will be held at TW Curry Parkview Chapel, 755 George St. Sydney, on Monday February 24, 2020 from 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday February 25, 2020 at 11:00 at St. Marguerite Bourgoeys Church with Father Bill Burke officiating, reception to follow, place of interment is Resurrection Community Cemetery.
