It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Papa, Clarence Rayfield Jarvis (Bugzy) who peacefully passed away surrounded by his family at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on Saturday, October 4th, 2025.
Bugzy was born in Weymouth, Nova Scotia in 1951 to Clarence and Maxine (Smith) Jarvis.
Amazing Papa to Valerie, Jake, Jasmine and Bridget. He was the beloved brother to Rose, Lorna, Ethel, Gilford and Cola, Brother-in-law to Allister (Buster) Matthews and beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Bugzy followed the love of his life Margaret Matthews to Sydney 45 years ago and a few years later moved with her to Membertou where they shared a beautiful life together until her death in 2006.
Bugzy took pride in being a retired scallop fisherman and loved sharing his stories with all and if you were a fisherperson you were an instant friend to Bugzy.
Bugzy was predeceased by his parents and siblings Eileen, Irene, Phillip, nephews Jason and Garnet and best friends Roy Gould and Gideon Lucas.
Papa will be brought home, 57 Bradley St., Membertou, on Saturday, October 11th from 7pm until a Funeral Mass takes place at 11:00am on Monday, October 13th at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church, 40 Cabot St. To view the service, or to leave a condolence or memory for the family please visit twcurry.com.
I would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses and staff of the CBRH for taking care of Papa and his home care workers for being there for him. Also thank you to Jake who was not only Papa's son-in-law but also his best friend. The love, care and compassion you have shown to Papa over the years will always be cherished.
