Born in Christmas Island, she was the youngest daughter of the late Mary Catherine and Allan J MacNeil.
She was predeceased by her husband, John Cyril, son James Allan, infant twin sons, John and Joseph, her sisters, Anna Mae, Libby, Josie, Rhodena and brothers, Hector, Angie, Neil D, John C, and Roy.
Dolena is survived by her daughters, Beverly (Richard) Coldham and Catherine, sons, Douglas (Marie), daughter-in-law, Caroline, and Garrett (Janet), grandchildren, Melanie (Johnny), Sara, Bill (Jane), Emily (Matt), Riley, Thomas and Matthew, great grandchildren, Lucas, Lachlan, Lydia, Betty, Olive, Cameron, and Chloe, her sister-in-law Florence and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mom was a dedicated member of Holy Rosary Parish and volunteered her talents to choir, CWL, Parish Council, and Cursillo.
With deep and abiding faith, Mom courageously accepted many challenges throughout her life’s journey. She had a keen sense of humour, loving, forgiving and compassionate spirit, and a quiet smile for everyone.
Mom had the kindest heart and genuine soul, always doing for someone else. Mom, you left us a lifetime of happy memories, love, and music. You were a kind, generous soul who loved everyone. Thank you.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, March 26 from 7-9pm at TW Curry Parkview Chapel, Sydney.
Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Rosary Parish Church, 40 Murphy Road, Westmount on Thursday, March 27 at 11am with Rev. Father Doug Murphy presiding. A reception will immediately follow at the Westside Legion, 99 Midgeley Drive, Westmount. Burial will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of one’s choice.
