Elizabeth Genevieve MacDonald, 91 of 26 Tillock Drive, Sydney, passed away Monday, July 29, 2013 in palliative care at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Lauchlin and Mary Margaret (MacDonald) MacDonald.
She was a member of St. Theresa’s parish, Sydney. When she was younger, Elizabeth was a mail carrier at Dominion Steel and Coal and for a number of years later, she worked in New York.
She is survived by sisters Mrs. Margaret ‘Peggy’ McKinnon, Sydney, Mrs. Pearl O’Connell, Stratford, Ont.; a brother-in-law George Slade and several nieces and nephews.
Elizabeth was predeceased by sisters Mary Catherine, Annie DeCoste, Carmel Slade, 2 brothers Colin and Donald and brothers-in-law Duncan McKinnon, Joseph O’Connell and John DeCoste.
There will be no visitation for the late Elizabeth MacDonald. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday at 11 am at St. Theresa’s Church with Rev. Jim Oliver officiating with interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Bay. Donations in her memory to a charity of choice.
