George Arnold Jessome

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of George "Arnold" Jessome, age 97 at Taigh Na Mara, Glace Bay on October 20, 2021. He was born in Sydney, was the son of the late Leo Jessome and Mary Josephine (Turner) Jessome.

Arnold was a proud World War II veteran, serving overseas with the Canadian Medical Corps. He enjoyed a long career with the Federal Government of Canada until his retirement in 1979. He lived a long and wonderful life with Mom by his side filled with so much joy. He loved to dance, play cards, darts and crafts and especially spend time with family.

Arnold is survived by his devoted wife of 74 years, Rita (Lawlor), children; Colleen (d. Scott), Catherine (Tom), George (Nada), Jennifer (Joe), grandchildren Michael (Sherry), Christopher (Danielle), Mia, Jana (Paul), Matthew, Andrew, great grandchildren Sarah, Bryce and Hayden, and sister Vivian (Jules), sister-in-law Patricia (d. Philip ) and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by 11 brothers and 4 sisters.

A heartfelt thank you to the staff of Taigh Na Mara for taking such good care of Dad and for their compassionate support as Dad left this world.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of T.W Curry Parkview Chapel As per Dad's wishes there will be a private family service with no visitation.
