

After many years working in the automotive industry, he spent the last 20 years of his career as a Nova Scotia Liquor Inspector. He used to say that he frequented every bar/pub on Cape Breton Island.
He was a member of the McGillivray Guest Home Board of Directors for over 20 years and was an Honorary Member of the Sydney 1060 Knights of Columbus.
He will always be remembered for his love of life, wonderful humor and great stories. He rarely missed attending the McDonald’s ‘coffee club’ and thoroughly enjoyed the friendships and laughter. A sense of humor was a major trait and many times he reminded family and friends of the value of laughter. He cultivated special and lasting relationships with many good friends.
He was affectionately known to family and close friends as “Spook”. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren would regularly refer to him as Spook. They would send birthday cards addressed to “Spook MacIntyre” – he loved receiving these cards and spoke fondly of all his extended family members.
He was an avid reader particularly of history and found any/all opportunities to pass on nuggets of interest and historical importance to family and friends. In addition, for over 50 years he collected western memorabilia (movies, books, magazines, serials) his collection was extensive, and his memory of long-ago western actors and authors was impressive.
During his 58 years with his beloved wife, they loved just being together, going to restaurants and long drives, Bernice passed away in 2008. He will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by daughters – Carol (Bud) Streeter, Fall River, and Lynn (Kenny) Pitchuck, Riverview NB and sons – Kent, Sydney, Mark (Norma), Middle Sackville and Ted, Garibaldi BC.
He will be missed by sisters Hazel MacNeil and Marion MacInnis both of Sydney and pre-deceased by brothers Jack and Albert. He dearly loved his grandchildren; Jeannie (Jeremy) Zimmel, Camrose, AB, Mark Streeter (Victoria), Victoria BC, Tamara Streeter (Michel), Montreal, Brandon (Elizabeth) MacIntyre, Lower Sackville, Jilianne MacIntyre, Wellington, NS, Kristen MacIntyre, Lower Sackville, Matthew MacIntyre, Lower Sackville, Tracy (Aiden) Ozon, Trenton, ON.
He is survived by great-grandchildren; Kyla, Rebecca, Grace, Julia, Meagan, Luke, Rhys, Kyle and Dylan and two great-great grandsons Wyatt and Silas.
A private funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday January 21, 2022, 11 am at Our Lady of Fatima with Fr. Patrick O’Neill officiating.
