Gladys was a woman who truly loved life and the people in it. Warm-hearted and full of joy. Gladys had a beautiful smile that could light up any room. Gladys was deeply devoted to her family and found happiness in life’s simple pleasures.
Gladys lived life to the fullest. Active and full of energy. Gladys enjoyed going to the gym, listening to music, and spending time with family and friends. Hard-working and dedicated, Gladys took great pride in her career as a real estate agent, where her warmth, honesty, and professionalism earned her the trust and respect of clients and colleagues alike.
Above all, Gladys adored her grandchildren, Madisyn and McKinnley. They were her greatest joy, and Gladys cherished every moment spent with them — whether sharing laughter, stories, songs, or simply enjoying time together. Gladys’ love and care for them will remain a lasting gift in their lives.
Born and raised in Scotland, Gladys met the love of her life, John McKenzie, in Spain. Together they lived and worked in London England, Spain, and Germany before settling in Canada in 1988.
In 2022, Gladys and John moved to Cape Breton to be closer to their loving daughter and family — a decision that brought Gladys great happiness.
Gladys will be forever missed by her loving husband John, cherished daughter Alexandra McKenzie (Aron Garbe), and adored grandchildren Madisyn and McKinnley. She is also survived by her brother Douglas (Pam) Young, sister-in-law Joan Harman (widow of the late Colin Harman), and many other relatives and dear friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, David and Isabel Young.
A celebration of Gladys’s life will be announced at a later date. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family by visiting twcurry.com.
