Harvey Scott MacEachern 45, of Glace Bay passed away suddenly on Friday June 26, 2009 at the Glace Bay Healthcare Complex.

Born in Sydney on February 9, 1964 , he was the son of Helen (Gallant) and the late Donald MacEachern. He was a member of St. Theresa’s parish. Harvey served in the Royal Canadian Navy for several years on the HMSC Preserver during the Falklands War. He worked at the QE II Hospital in the information services department before retiring due to ill health. He was an avid golfer and a great story teller and his family was very important to him. Harvey was a boxer in his younger years and won the Nova Scotia Provincial title.

He is survived by his wife Lisa (MacLeod) MacEachern, his mother, Helen, brothers; Bernie (Norma), Ennismore, Ontario, Michael (Joan) Westmount, Ronnie, Sydney and by sisters; Mary Ellen, Halifax, Cathy (Jean Boudreau), Mt. Stewart, PE and Joan, Charlottetown PE. Also surviving are his mother in law, Ruby MacLeod sister in law, Laurel Beth (Bruce) Smith, Glace Bay, brothers in law, Layton (Kim) MacLeod, Port Williams, N.S., Lincoln (Denise) MacLeod, Baddeck, N.S. and Lowell (Mary Lynn) MacLeod, Glace Bay. Harvey is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous nieces and nephews and by his beloved pets, Patches and Molly.

He was predeceased by his father, Donald in September of 2005 and by his father in law , Layton in March of this year.

Visitation for the late Harvey MacEachern will be held on Tuesday June 30,2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel, 755 George Street, Sydney. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Theresa’s church.

Memorial donations in Harvey’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of choice.
