

Helen Patterson, age 90, passed away peacefully at Harbourstone Enhanced Care surrounded by her family. She was predeceased by her husband of 36 years, Tom Patterson, her sister Theresa Walsh and brother Richard Carroll. Helen was also predeceased by brothers-in-law George and David Patterson, Pat Griffin, and Garfield Walsh, as well as sisters-in-law Mary Lacivita, Hilda Doody and Kay Griffin.
Helen is survived by her sister Bernadette McIsaac (Ernie) of Lower Sackville. She will also be lovingly remembered by her 5 children Tom Patterson (Heather), Brenda MacPherson (Brian), Jim Patterson (Clare), Barb Patterson (Glenda) and Valerie Patterson (Robert). She was a proud grandmother to 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, each of whom brought her great joy.
Helen is also survived by many nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart. She is also survived by her husband‘s family, Charles, Harry, and James Patterson, Barbara Power and sister Bridget Patterson and their families.
Helen had very fond memories of her 30 years at St. Rita's Hospital, retiring in 1995. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards and never missed the chance to cheer on her grandchildren at their school events and various sporting activities. She also had a special place in her heart for the family dogs, looking forward to their visits and the joy they brought throughout the years.
Helen was known for her keen sense of humour, her impeccable sense of style and her ever present tube of lipstick. In her later years, she especially looked forward to her eldest daughter's turkey dinners and cherished a good lobster sandwich.
A Funeral Mass to celebrate her life, will be held at 11am on Wednesday, October 8 at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church, 40 Cabot Street, Sydney. Inurnment in Resurrection Cemetery.
