Born in Glace Bay, Jim was the son of the late Robert and Isabel (Poulain) Strang.
Jim was a dedicated and beloved husband and father. His friendly face was a fixture of the Atlantic Superstore in Sydney River for the past 15 years. He took joy and pride in his time spent gardening, woodworking and taking photographs. Later in his life he enjoyed several trips abroad and, when closer to home, kept an eye on the goings-on of the Toronto Blue Jays and the residents of Coronation Street. His love of life always shone through in his enjoyment of music and sharing laughter with friends and family.
He is survived by his loving wife Ruth, son Devon (Sidney) - Charlottetown, daughter Schoel (Eric) - Halifax, brothers Ken (Pat) - Halifax, Bill (Terry) - Halifax, sister Betty (Merrill) - Sydney, cherished grandchildren Carver and Jemima Strang, and much-loved nieces, nephews and in-laws.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother Donnie.
Funeral service for Jim will be at 11 am on Thursday, August 2nd at T.W Curry Parkview Chapel at 755 George Street, Sydney. Interment in St. James Parish Cemetery, Gardiner Mines. Reception to follow at the Pensioner Hall in Gardiner Mines.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim’s memory to St. James Parish Cemetery, Gardiner Mines, or a charity of one’s choice.
