We the family announce with sadness in our hearts the passing of our beloved mother, grand-mother, sister and friend, Janet Johnson at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on August 27th. Janet was born April 12, 1971 to parents Andrew Johnson and Brenda Poulette. She will be forever missed by those fortunate enough to have known her.
Janet was a social butterfly. She loved spending time with her friends and family, she was always out spoken and loved to converse with just about anyone. Janet loved her friends and her family unconditionally. She also had a soft spot for animals, especially her two dogs. Janet had a green thumb, she loved plants and flowers. Janet worked in her community as a custodian cleaning up at housing worksites alongside her fiancé Daniel, she also used this talent to help others with cleaning and odd jobs in their homes. She was an educated woman who held various degrees one of which was in tourism. She was a devout member Holy Family Parish serving in the choir for many years. In her busy life, Janet always made time to enjoy a game of cards or bingo with her friends and loved ones.
Janet is predeceased by her parents Andrew Johnson and Brenda Poulette, her maternal grand-parents Richard and Mary Ann Poulette, and her paternal grand-parents Benjamin and Madelyn Johnson. Janet is also predeceased by her sister Corrine Johnson, her uncles; Filney Poulette, Raymond Poulette, Roderick Johnson, as well as aunts; Germaine Francis, and Cecilia Julian and Margaret Johnson.
Left to mourn is Janet’s fiancé and companion Daniel Marshall, brothers; Ben “Sonny” Johnson (Cheryl) and Tommy Johnson, sisters; Audrey Johnson (Howard), Mary Margaret Marshall, Marcia Johnson (Arthur), Charlene Johnson, and Melinda Simon (Marcus). She also leaves behind five beautiful children; Joey Ben, Noel, Jeanetty and Charles among them, as well as five beautiful grand-children. Janet will also be fondly remembered by her god-son J.P. and her many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place starting Saturday, Sept 3rd, 7pm, at the Elder’s Center in Eskasoni. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Church on Mon, Sept 5th, at 10:30am. To leave memories and condolences please visit www.twcurry.com.
