East Bay
It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of John Alexander MacIntyre at The Cove Guest Home on April 14, 2019 , by the side of his loving wife Catherine.
Born April 16, 1923 in East Bay, he was the son of the late Daniel and Sadie (MacPherson) MacIntyre
John was married to the love of his life Catherine and together they raised their family in East Bay and Portage. He was a true gentleman and was well liked and respected by all who knew him. John was always a hard working man and worked at many careers over the course of his 95 years, but spent the majority of his working life as a carpenter and was happiest when he was building something or tinkering around in his workshop. His strong hands built many homes as well as played many tunes on his beloved instruments. He was a very talented fiddle player. Scottish music brought him much joy over the years and through this outlet he created many lifelong friendships. He was also known to have a love of sweets; cinnamon rolls, candy, chocolate, the works and always made room for dessert. Above all, John was a family man. His devotion, unconditional love and quiet nature will truly be missed.
John is survived by his wife of 65 years, Catherine Florence (MacIsaac) MacIntyre, his daughters Diane (Bill) House, Sarah (Fred) Flemings, Rachael Thorne, Catherine (Darryl) Kelly, Mary MacIntyre, Rita (Paul) Whelan and his sons John MacIntyre, Danny MacIntyre and Joseph (Janice) MacIntyre, along with 16 grandkids, 15 great grandkids and sisters, Rita Tushaus, Theresa MacArthur and Susan MacEachern.
John was predeceased by his parents, parents-in-law Joseph and Rachael MacIsaac, sisters Peggy MacIntyre, Mary Quinn, Catherine MacIntyre; brother Mickey MacIntyre, son-in-law Tim Thorne and many other in laws and relatives.
We would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of The Cove for the care and compassion that John received during his time there.
