Joseph William Parsons

70 – North Sydney

Joseph William Parsons, 70 of Napolean Street, North Sydney, passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 after a short illness at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

Born in North Sydney, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Hawley) Parsons.

He was a member of Unite Here Local 47 Edmonton, AB and worked for a few years with CNRL and prior to this worked as a roofer in Ontario for many years. Joe loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He also was an avid card player.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, the former Cecilia White, his son Joseph William (Elaine), Grand Bend, ON; daughters, Cecilia (Joel) Hickey, AB; Mary ‘Patsy’ (Ivan) Gauthier, ON; Ann Parsons (Sebastian Chiaramida), ON; Wanda (Brian) Barron, NB; sisters Mrs. Violet Haycox, Phyllis (Harry) Yurczyszyn, Valerie Brown (Jerry Hynes); Mrs. Donna Podetzs; brothers Cecil (Jean), Clayton (Sharon), Wayne (Sandy) and Tim (Liz) and Carl. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joe was predeceased by a son Michael, a granddaughter Rebecca and sisters Alice Hickey, Darlene Russell, Marie Smith and Bertha Hastie.

There will be no visitation for the late Mr. Parsons. A funeral service will be held Friday at 2:30 pm with Rev. Brian Barron officiating at T.W.Curry Parkview Chapel; friends may gather 1 hour before the service. Interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
