Judy, our beautiful, vibrant, and precious mother, grandmother, wife and sister,
completed her earthly journey on Tuesday, July 2, 2019, where she passed away peacefully with family at her side in the An Cala Palliative Care Unit at the CBRH. Our hearts are filled with sorrow but also deep gratitude for the wonderful memories she created.
Judy was born in 1954 in Sydney and was the daughter of the late Murdock and Betty
(MacLellan) MacIsaac.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Wayne, her children, Deanna (Arthur Barbut), Windsor, ON; Murdock David, Montreal; Michael, Fredericton; Maureen, Sydney and her sister Maureen MacIsaac, CND. She also leaves behind her two grandchildren, Victor and Alexander Barbut as well as many friends and relatives.
Judy was both courageous and gentle, and inspired others with her unceasing optimism and faith. Her profound love of nature and God’s creation was enriched by her regular walks on the Baille Ard Nature Trail and summer days spent at the bungalow in Island View on the Bras d’Or Lakes. Always up for an adventure, Judy and Wayne explored the island together and cherished their trips abroad.
She worked as an LPN at Holy Redeemer Convent, and later at MacGillivary Guest
Home, where she touched the lives of many as she expressed her innate gifts of kindness and compassion. Judy was known for her big, genuine smile and unique charm that lifted the spirits of all who knew her. Possessing a great deal of passion, curiosity, and an open mind, her eyes would frequently light up when exposed to a new thought or idea. She loved listening to stories and often had a radio playing in every room. Her first priority in life was her family and she was never shy about sharing her love. Judy’s grandchildren in particular provided her tremendous joy and satisfaction in her later years. Her enthusiasm for life was contagious and will forever live on in the hearts and minds of all who were blessed to know and love her.
Special thanks to the exceptional staff of the Palliative Care Unit who lovingly cared for Judy at home and at the CBRH, providing her with comfort and strength, especially Linda Murphy, RN and long-time family friend Dr. Anne Frances D’Intino.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday, July 5 at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 6 at St. Theresa’s Church with Rev. Dennis Lamey. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice Palliative Care Society.
