Margaret I. MacDonald, Harbourstone Enhanced Care, formally of Kenwood Drive, Sydney River passed away peacefully in the palliative Care Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in St. Georges Channel, Richmond Co., she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Margaret MacKenzie.
Margaret was a founding member of the Sydney River United Protestant Church, Sydney River. She was a skilled seamstress and the homes of our family are graced with her beautiful quilts, needle points and Afghans. Her biscuits, pies and cinnamon rolls were second to none.
Margaret is survived by her daughter Marilyn (the late Bert Campbell); 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandsons; Graham (Sonya) Campbell, son, Aiden; Robin (Brian) Dodd, children, Brandon, Bradley and Kyle; Jennifer (Glenn) Spencer, sons, Brett and Ryan; Sean (Holly) MacDonald, son Matthew. She is also survived by her daughter in law, Louise MacDonald and her family; sister in law, Jessie MacKenzie; brother in law, Buddy MacRae and several nieces and nephews of whom she was very fond.
Margaret was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her husband, Graham; sons, Ross, Benjamin and Terrance; brothers, Roy, Frank, Laird, Harold and William; sisters, Sadie, Catherine and Irene.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the palliative care unit and the staff of Irish Cove, Harbourstone Enhanced Care for making Margaret’s last 3 years enjoyable. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 4 in the Chapel at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel. Rev. Tommy Whent will officiate. Interment in Hardwood Hill Cemetery.
