

Sadie was born in Sydney NS in 1923 and was the youngest child of John V MacEachern and Mary Ann McVarish of East Bay, NS. In 1924, after the passing of her father, the family moved to Northside East Bay. Five years later her mother remarried and had two sons.
Sadie attended high school in Glace Bay and Normal School in Truro NS, where she became a teacher. She met her future husband, Donald P McIntyre, a World War II veteran in 1945. They later married in 1951, had four children and settled and raised their family at Northside East Bay.
Sadie was a warm, welcoming and compassionate person and was heavily involved in the CWL and in helping her community. She loved to knit, crochet and quilt and was an accomplished seamstress. Sadie is the last remaining member of her immediate family.
Besides her husband of fifty years Donald P McIntyre; daughters Donna Nimmo and Sally McIntyre-LeBlanc, she was predeceased by her grandparents Alex and Margaret McVarish; her mother and Stepfather Mary Ann and Michael MacNeil; sisters (one in infancy) Cecilia MacEachern, brought up in Bridgeport; Margaret Hiscock (the late Bob); Catherine Bryden (the late Leo) and brothers Alex MacNeil (Dorothy); Donald MacEachern (the late Ellen); John MacNeil (Jessie), the late Betty MacNeil.
She is survived by her daughter Cindy Tiller (Donald) Glace Bay; her son Robert McIntyre (Angela)Mount Uniacke; son-in-law Peter LeBlanc, Sydney; granddaughters Brittany Kowalczyk (Andre)
Glace Bay; Aimee LeBlanc, Sydney; Grandson Joseph Kowalczyk (Tera); step-grandsons Bill Barnaby (Samantha), Mike Barnaby (Courtney), James LeBlanc (Cheri), Halifax; and Great grandchildren Carson and Kylee Kowalczyk, Glace Bay; Step great grandchildren Cohen and Cole Barnaby, Mount Uniacke and Douglas Leblanc, Halifax; as well as many devoted nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements are under the care of TW Curry Parkview Chapel Sydney. The visitation will take place on Monday, November 24th from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and again from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary's Church, East Bay on Tuesday November 25th at 10:00 am, with Father Anthony O'Connor officiating. Sadie will be laid to rest with her husband Donald and daughter Donna in the family plot at East Bay Cemetery. A light lunch will be served after the Funeral Mass.
