

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Phyllis Halloran announce her passing on October 4th, 2025, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born on June 26, 1946, in Sydney, Phyllis was the daughter of the late William and Mary (Marshall) Besso.
Phyllis is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Charlie, sons Robbie and Kevin (Heather), grandson Mat, and special fur buddy Ollie.
She is also survived by her siblings; Bonnie (Peter Hill), Linda (Dennis) Weatherby, Virginia (Wessy) Cromwell; Wayne (Tonya) Besso, and Brian (Karen) Besso; in-laws, Hilma Besso, Gayle Landry, Toby Halloran, Brian (Jackie) Halloran, Donnie Halloran, Debbie (Shaun) Donovan, Danny (Kathy) Halloran, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Phyllis was predeceased by her special uncle Jack Marshall, brother Billy Besso; in-laws, Hector and Sharlene Halloran, Paula Halloran, Natalie Halloran, Bernie Landry, Agnes Marie Halloran, and Toby and Elizabeth (Sis) Halloran.
Phyllis had a great love for family and friends. She had an eye for special treasures and loved to share them. She always made holidays special, especially Christmas when the whole family would look forward to seeing the theme of this year’s Christmas tree. She was young at heart and loved to travel especially to the valley to see the apple blossoms each spring, our family trip across Canada, and more recently her and Charlie’s trip to Ireland. She loved collectables, especially her dolls, and cherished her gardens at home.
A special thank you to those who provided Phyllis with love and comfort over the past number of years, especially Sharon, who has been with her since she first started to become ill, Celine and Barb.
Thank you to the, staff of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital 4A and Palliative Care units who took wonderful care of Phyllis and her family and also to the staff of the Celtic Court Guest Home for taking exceptional care during her stay there.
Visitation will be held at TW Curry Parkview Chapel, 755 George St, Sydney from 2-4 and 7-9 on Thur Oct 9th. A funeral mass to celebrate the life of Phyllis Halloran will take place on Friday, Oct 10th, 11 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Church, 1135 Victoria Rd, Whitney Pier.
