

Dinglo was born on March 17, 1939 in Membertou. He grew up in Membertou and attended the Shubenacadie Residential School. In his later years he attended Cape Breton University. He joined the military in 1956 after leaving residential school. He was a proud member of the Armed Forces for over 30 years. Upon retirement, he joined the Pier Legion in Sydney. He was a member of the Mi’kmaq Grand Council of which he was extremely proud to be a part and contributed to the unity of the Mi’kmaq Nation. In his early years in the military, he became the Armed Forces boxing champion and was part of several champion hockey teams. He was an avid kickboxer and boxer and enjoyed teaching both sports.
He married Elisabeth on March 28, 1962, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. He was a devoted father and will be remembered for his athletic prowess being a boxer and hockey player within the Armed Forces community. He spent many a day four-wheeling, hunting, fishing and enjoying other activities such as cycling around the streets of Membertou and Caribou Marsh. He will be remembered for his laughter, his infectious smile and sense of humour. He never turned away an individual in need and reached out on may occasions to provide assistance where needed. He loved being involved with the children at the Membertou Elementary School as a school liaison and Elder in Residence.
Dinglo is survived by his children Bernd(Tracee), Tamara(Christopher), Tania(Randy) and Shane(Cheryl), his grandchildren Ekkian, Ansale’wit, Shayla(John), Hunter, Sage, Krista(Ryan), Mykeo and Nakai. He will be missed by his siblings John, Julie and Jean and his great grandchildren, Braydon, Charleigh-Ann, Miller, Valentina and Alicia.
He was preceded in death by his siblings Jonas Marshall, Bernie Christmas, Noel Christmas, Mike Christmas, Tom Christmas, and Nancy Paul. He was preceded in death by his Mi’kmaq extended family of Chief Noel Doucette, Chief Allison Bernard SR., Sara Denny, Joe B. Marshall and Carl Gould.
He will be missed by his life long friends Ron Wells, John H. Paul, Alex Christmas and Bernie Francis.
He will be missed by Sarah Doucette, Vannessa Marshall, Margaret Johnston and Emily Paul whom he considered his daughters in spirit. Numerous God Children.
Visitation will take place on Sunday April 6, 2025 at 12 Tupsi Dr. Membertou beginning at 7 pm. A funeral will be held on April 8, 2025 at 11 am at St.Marguerite Bourgeoys Parish in Sydney, Nova Scotia with Fr. Bill Burke officiating. Burial and Salite to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Membertou Senior Club 55 located in Membertou, NS.
He wanted the world to know that despite how bad things can be, there is always a ray of sunshine. He would want all to “be good”.
