It is with deep sadness that we the family, announce the passing of Teddy Snow, age 89 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney NS on September 19th, 2021. Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Ted and Mary Ann (MacDonald) Snow.
Teddy was a member of Our Lady of Fatima parish in Sydney River. A gentle kind person and a devoted Catholic. He worked in the parts dept. at R.J. Logue & MacIntyre Chev until his retirement in 1995.
He was best known for his love of Celtic music, Big Pond, concerts and storytelling. His favorite radio program to listen to was Donnie Campbell on Sunday evenings. Teddy would not miss it.
Teddy was a self-taught musician, played the piano, mouth organ, and the guitar. He sang and appeared on local TV and radio programs. In his early days, he was a well-known caller at various square dances throughout Cape Breton Island. Teddy was an avid CB Eagles hockey fan and a season ticket holder. The last few months of his life were spent at Harbourstone Enhanced Care where he became the social butterfly.
Teddy is survived by his siblings; Carolyn (Dennis) Murphy, Doreen (Lorway) MacDougall, Joan Butts, Brian (Cindy), brother-in-law Donald ‘Brother’ MacNeil, sisters-in-law Theresa ‘Tessie’ Snow, Mary Ryan and Gertie (Ryan) Long, also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is predeceased by his parents, his wife Rhoda (Ryan) Snow, sisters; Ann Marie MacNeil, Jean Snow, and Theresa Gilliard, brother Joseph Snow and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, and nephew Cst. Paul Murphy.
Visitation will take place at TW Curry Parkview Chapel on Wednesday September 29th, 2021 from 6 – 9 pm. With Covid restrictions in place.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday September 30, 2021, at Our Lady of Fatima, 11 am, with Fr. Patrick O’Neill officiating. For those unable to attend in person, the service will be livestreamed on our website. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery on Friday October 1, 2021 at 2 pm.
