It is with great sadness that the family of Theresa Barrington, Northside East Bay, announces her passing Friday, Jan. 8, 2010, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine
(Donovan) LeBlanc.
Theresa grew up in Whitney Pier and attended school at Holy Redeemer and Holy Angels Convent. She worked at Mike Sullivan¹s Bus Company after graduation then she spent several years raising their five sons at their home in South Bar. In 1961 she became secretary treasurer of Barrington and Vokey where she worked until her retirement.
Theresa loved music and singing and while attending school sang masses at Holy Redeemer and in later years was a member of the CWL. One of her greatest pleasures was the time spent at Northside East Bay where she enjoyed many family gatherings.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Charlie; sons, Richard (Cathy), Sydney, Bruce (Sheila), Ross Ferry, Donald (Julie), Lake Echo, Earl(Colleen), Halifax, Blaise (Shelly), London, Ont.; sisters, Mary MacDonald and Sr. Catherine LeBlanc, CND, Sydney; brothers, Florian and John, Sydney, Julian, Toronto, and Urban, California; brother-in-law, John Chisholm, Antigonish; 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her sister, Joan and brother, Charlie.
Visitation will be held Monday, Jan. 11 at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral will be celebrated at St. Mary¹s Church, East Bay, on Tuesday, Jan. 12 at 2:30 p.m. with Fr. Frank Abbass officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery.
