

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing on Monday, November 24, 2025, of our beloved mother, aunt, sister and friend Veronica Jane Young at 55 years of age. Daughter to the late Richard and Gertrude Young, Veronica was a devout, woman of prayer. Her strong faith and big heart meant an open door and open arms policy. She made everyone feel welcome. This same spirit also flowed through into her love for all of her many foster kids, which she treated as her own. She was also very social, enjoying her visits with family and friends. She also loved music, enjoyed dances and had Alexa playing any chance she could.
Veronica will be dearly missed by her son Kray Young, sisters Joan (Brian), Roberta, Madeline, Doreen, Mary Theresa and Janelle, brothers Donald (Charmaine), Terrance "Diddlo", Roger "Buddy", Richard jr. (Tonya), Robert (Michelle) and John W. Bernard, Aunts Catherine Dennis and Mary Ellen Francis, godchildren Samantha Sylliboy, Loressa Michael, Shaylene Paul, Kailey Bernard and Johntae Young and godmother Gloria Gould. Veronica is also survived by many nieces and nephews, including Bryson Young, Blake Young, Antonio Young, Michelle Pierro, Blake Bernard, Lydia Michael, Bernice Michael, Bernadette Michael and Carrie Anne Michael whom Veronica saw as special to her. She also leaves many, many friends, Gwen Cremo, Ann Joe, Darlene & Simon Poulette, Kathy & Jessica Lewis, Audrey Young, Nancy Sylliboy, Arlene, Cindy and Menia to name a few.
Besides her parents, Veronica was predeceased by brother Anthony Daniel Young, uncle Francis Mooney, grandparents Joseph Francis, Annie Madeline Francis, William Young, and Mary Young, and her BFF Simone Sylliboy.
Visitation will take place starting at 7pm on Sunday, November 30 at 22 Richard Avenue, Eskasoni and continuing until the Funeral Mass on Tuesday, December 2nd at 10:00am at Holy Family Church, 50 Gabriel St., Eskasoni with Fr. Antolin Asor officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery and Salite in the Gabriel Centre immediately following. Memories and condolences can be shared with the family by visiting twcurry.com.
