

She was the daughter of the late Stephen and Margaret (Podetz) Pierrynowski.
Vicki was born in Sydney and, after graduating from Sydney Academy, began working for IAC / Continental Bank where she excelled at her job until the branch closed in 1979.
She met and married her husband, Wilfred (Wimpy) Aucoin in 1958, with whom she shared a loving life until his passing in 1986.
Vicki was a devoted member of St. Mary’s Polish Church. She was an avid gardener and walker for many years and looked forward to morning coffee with the “Coffee Girls,” who were a great support to her during her illness.
She loved to travel and visited more than 40 countries. After Wimpy’s passing, she spent several Christmases with her friends Joe and Elaine in Ontario. She also spent many winters in Las Vegas and California with her lifelong friend Roma and enjoyed many wonderful visits in Montreal with her friends Shirley and Steve. Vicki also cherished many memorable trips with her friends Juliette, Joan, Micka, and the late Shirley Green, who passed away in 2025.
Vicki had a close relationship with her nieces, nephews, and their children, taking great interest in their lives and always expressing how proud she was of each of them.
She is survived by her nephew Richard (Joan) and their children Andrew and Ainslie (JP); nephew Keith (Colleen) and their sons Stephen and Michael (Emily); niece Lorna and her daughters Bailey and Brooke; her nephew Michael (Carol) and nephew Lawrence (Donna), and their son Nicholas (Shelby); and niece Rose Mary (Keith) and their daughters Alicia (Erik) and Stephanie (Thomas).
Vicki is also survived by her sister-in-law Joan Mosher, and several cousins with whom she enjoyed keeping in touch.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brothers Henry and Rudy, sisters-in-law Anne and Millie, nephew Bernie French and niece Rosella French.
The family would like to thank Dr. Ian Doyle, Dr. Shimon, the Palliative Care Team and the An Cala Unit, Continuing Care, Cape Breton County Homemakers and VON, whose support enabled Vicki to remain in her home until recently. Special thanks to friend and neighbour Russell Green for his unwavering support of Vicki over the years. Heartfelt thanks to family, friends and neighbours who provided compassion and support to Vicki during a difficult time.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 11th from 2–4 p.m. and 7–9 p.m at TW Curry Parkview Chapel, 755 George St., Sydney. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Polish Church, Whitney Pier (62 Wesley St.), on Thursday, March 12th at 11 a.m., with Father Evo DiPierro officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall. Interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
