I’ve been so blessed in life to have four amazing grandparents that I was close to and got to see often and spend time with and learn from.  My grandmother, Bettye Lessley, was no exception to the amazingness.  She’s where I got my love of history, makeup, jewelry, and banana popsicles. To this day some of my favorite things are some pieces of costume jewelry I remember her letting me play with when I was little and then borrow the nicer ones as I grew up and still loved being “fancy”. 🥰  I also inherited her “gift of gab” and can and will talk to anybody about anything. Her talking was always much more informative and interesting than mine however.  🤗. She had the most amazing stories about the history of our family (and a lot of people’s families) and where we were from. I will really miss hearing those because there are a lot of things I’ve grown to appreciate so much more as I’ve gotten older. There have been so many times in the past couple of years where I’ve just wanted to sit and talk with her about history and listen to her stories and wasn’t able to. She was my pen-pal in college and wrote me all of the time so I would get mail while I was away from home and wouldn’t feel lonely, so my daughter, Grace,  and I were her pen-pals during Covid when she couldn’t have visitors at the nursing home so she would have mail and pictures and not feel lonely too.  ❤️  I tell Grace so many awesome stories about all of her grandparents all of the time because I want her to always know how amazing they were and keep their memories alive. I wish they could’ve have all gotten to know her because they would be laughing constantly, but I know now that they are all laughing with each other in heaven looking down on us because I FOR SURE had one just like me and I was made up of all of the amazing parts of them (and then some).  🥰🤗❤️🙏

John, Jim, and Jeanie: 
I am so sad to hear about your mom's passing.  Our parents were lifelong friends.  It is comforting to think they are now reunited and sharing tales of their younger years.  May God bless and keep you during this difficult time. 

Mrs.  Lesley was my dear neighbor and I've missed her terribly since she relocated to the nursing home.  We had many great conversations and I learned a lot of historical interesting things that I did not know.
