It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Deborah Glenn Gammon Ford, August 11, 2024 in her home in Opelika, Alabama at age 71. She was born on Christmas Day 1952 to her loving parents, Tommie and Rod Gammon, in Columbus, Indiana. Sometime later, the family moved to Sylacauga, Alabama where Debbi lived until she married in 1991. Opelika then became her home, where she would reside with her husband, Joe, for 15 happy years. She had an avid love of gardening that she inherited from her mother and grandmother, and especially loved the beautiful peonies and iris that she grew. Debbi was a graduate of Auburn University with a degree in Marine Biology and was a huge fan of her alma mater. She worked as a bookkeeper for most of her life. She had a special place in her heart for dogs and had many throughout the years, including her most recent love, Bo. She loved but lost him in the spring. Debbi was a sister who kept her big brother on his toes, the sweetest of sisters-in-law, a thoughtful aunt and a friend to many who were proud to call her friend. She passed in her home with her two dearest friends at her side, Don Rogers and Donna Cribb. Debbi was a light in this world to both family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Debbi was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joe Ford, her parents, Tommie and Rod Gammon, sister Vicki Ballard, and loving aunts, uncles and grandparents.
Previously departed loved ones include Jonee Lambert, her dear friend.
Debbi is survived by her only brother, Rick Gammon, and his wife Cindy, of Loganville, Georgia, their children Rick Gammon, of Bluffton, South Carolina, Kimberly, his wife and children, Michael, Johnathan and Harrison, and Rick’s daughters, Ella and Owsley of Bluffton, South Carolina, Chris Gammon of Bluffton, South Carolina, Matt Gammon and his wife, Krystle, and daughter, Victoria, of Winder, Georgia, and Brynn Middlebrooks and her husband Andrew and daughter, Lyla, of Winder, Georgia; Her husband Joe’s sons, Lynn and Todd Ford; And Debbi’s cousin, Dorry Lindsey and husband, Stephen, of Easton, Connecticut.
The private service will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Sylacauga. A donation can be made in her name to Compassus at 333 Sanford Village Court, Suite B, Auburn, Alabama 36830.
