Sylacauga, AL - Funeral service for Douglas Glenn Smith, 67, will be Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Radney-Smith Chapel with Bro. Duane Smith and Bro. Sam Cunard officiating. Burial will be in Grimes Chapel Cemetery in Sylacauga, AL.

Mr. Smith died Sunday, July 26, 2020 at his residence. He was preceded in death by his parents, U.L. & Gracie Smith, children, Douglas Scott Smith, Maranda Farrah Smith, and brother, Ray Smith. Mr. Smith was a deacon at County Line Baptist Church in Sylacauga, and was a member of 378 Masonic Lodge Weogufka. He worked with the Coosa County Sheriff's Reserve and he loved his horses, dogs, and planting his garden.

He is survived by his daughter, Christie (Barry) Penton; two grandsons, Micha Penton, Joshua Penton; granddaughter, Mayla Penton; three sisters, Dorris (Tim) Curtis, Faye (Richard) Helm, Eloise Merrell; and two best friends, Ray (Betty) Weldon, and Wade Ezekiel.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 29, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be David Smith, Wendell Merrell, Trenton Davenport, Logan Mitchell, Ray Weldon and Keith McCoy.

You were such a great man and I am better for knowing you. I will always remember you taking Jade on tractor rides and putting her up on the horse back. I remember our long conversations on the porch swing and anything and nothing. You truly made us feel like family. You made her first Easter something truly special. I have thought about you everyday and I will miss you more than you will every know.
